You Must Believe in God; Just in Case!

Author: Lance Winslow

Have you ever had a conversation with a believer or religious follower who tells you that you must believe in God just in case he is real? Isn't it interesting that someone who only half believe in God wants you to at least half believe in God? Consider if you will that a person who is a boldly semi-religious follower who is a half in the pool and half out of the pool wants you to jump into the pool ahead of him. Just in case.

Just in case of what? Just in case there is a shark in there so he will not get bitten? Just in case there is not a God he will not be alone in believing a false line of the religious literary work written thousands of years ago and rewritten every 50 years sense?

When we to listen to people discuss atheism and Christianity I find it really interesting that this topic actually comes up so often. I was talking to a gentleman the other day at a coffee shop and we were debating Christian science and theology and the individual told me that we must believe in God and a higher power just in case. I said just in case over what?

He said; just in case there is a God and a heaven, only do want to end up in hell if we do not believe in God. Well, that is assuming there is a heaven and there is a hell and if you do not believe in heaven or hell what difference does it make if you follow a God or not? And why would you follow a God who threatens to send you to hell if you do not follow him of your own free will?

Why would you wish to give up your free will to do the work of a God who will punish you if you don't by sending you to hell? I thought slavery was illegal. You know religious followers just don't get it and there is no sense in trying to talk to them; they are so out of lunch? It is as if they just turned off their brain one day and will not turn it back on again. Consider this in 2006.
